Learner-Ability PLUS Learnability: Time for Learners to Update Their Learning Capability, with Patricia McLagan

Pat McLagan

 Pat McLagan

An expert in science-based, best practice learning,  Pat will discuss:

  • Need for transformation to Learning 4.0 for learners
  • Empowering learners to see themselves as true lifelong learners at work and in daily life
  • Updating learner skills and mindsets to  overcome outmoded, ineffective learning habits.

Description

Instructional systems —programs and support — are a lot more sophisticated, using many varieties of technologies and methods in order to ensure objectives are achieved. But while design, teaching and facilitation methods are better and better, it's easy to forget that learners ultimately have all the power in the process. It's their brains that attend to and process information, their commitments that entrench knowledge and skill, and their ability to sustainable transfer learning into their environment.

But learner skills and mindsets are often stuck back at school or in "the company will train me" mode.

It's time to help learners see themselves as true lifelong learners who can apply learning theory, neuroscience insights, and even environmental reengineering to their every day life and to both formal and informal learning.

Pat will do a brief introduction to the concept of Learning 4.0 for learners, based on her book, Unstoppable You: Adopt the New Learning 4.0 Mindset and Change Your Life.
